Nasty Nightmare

So being half awake for a couple of hours leads to weird dreams. I cannot remember exactly what happened. I remember there was something involving me trying to get a new skateboard Which being awake still seems like a good idea. i miss having one. Also something involving a big boat and going to a show and being early and having to stay at this weird house that was apparently someone me and the group of people i knew lived at but they weren't there except their dad was but he was super religious. The weirdest part was something about hillary clinton?? no clue.... very odd.

No plans for today except for dropping off some film to be developed. Oh and listening to records.
I'm sure i'll scan the pictures and put them up later

"Duck" and cover

So I have been in Charlotte since thursday night and it makes me miss living here.

Nothing horribly exciting has happened.

Friday consisted of cliff jumping though which was a blast. Something I hadn't done in a while.

Last night we went to visit Stan and Rachel at his parents house. Me, Nick, and Neal arrived there before they got back and sat outside talking to both of their moms outside. Then Stan, Rachel, and Jordan showed up. It was great to see all three of them. After an awesome dinner me and stan went and reminisced while looking through a box of old stuff. Then the guys (minus jordan who sadly had to leave early) sat around and just hung out for the rest of the night. It reminded me how doing nothing can be awesome with the right people.

Today's plan is to meet up with stan and everyone else. And then tomorrow is practice and then tuesday the show.
Photobucket

Last night did provide a horrible surprise though on the car ride to stan's. I was on 77 going about 80 miles an hour and then coming over a hill saw something in the road. I then noticed it was a family of ducks. I was going to get over but a car was riding next to me and i couldn't merge and there was nothing i could do. I looked back and it was like a cartoon, just a big cloud of feathers behind me. It really did suck though and was really sad

California.... the conclusion

So it's my last day here and i'm about to get ready to start packing. The plan is to get out of here and hit up a van's store and a final trip to In and Out and then go to the airport. This time i'm ready with my laptop fully charged and some new movies to watch.

Yesterday's trip to hollywood was interesting. First to begin with hollywood doesn't awaken till noon apparently. I got there at 11 with the intent of going to Headline records. Sadly they didn't open till noon. It was really dark and gloomy out. So i walked up the street to find a johnny rockets. It was one of the few things open so i went in and sat down and got some onion rings and a soda to pass the time. It hit about 11:30 or 11:45 and i walked back towards the store to wait outside. The vintage t-shirt shop across the street was then open so i walked inside to waste some more time. I don't get how people shop at those vintage shirt places. A t-shirt ranged from $28-$36. And they weren't even really cool shirts, they were just typical stuff you'd find at a goodwill. So finally i see the guy across the street open the door and pull away the gate so i make my way back over. The owner was French and wearing a vibrators shirt when i walked in so i knew this could be a cool place. First thing i see when i walked in was a collectables section. Lots of awesome stuff but all way out of my price range. I only had $100 to spend and didn't want to blow it all on one record. So i went to searching. An hour and a half later i walked out with a pretty sizeable load. And then it was off to amoeba records for another quick stop. The walk took about an hour but on the way i got to see a Banksy piece and lots of other cool stuff. Finally i get to Amoeba to pick up an original copy of The Record by Fear. It's pretty beat up but i don't care much, it still played good. By then it was about 2:35 and i had to walk way down sunset to get to the metro station. It was a lot further than i thought. When i was walking i did notice a street named L Ron Hubbard St. and i just looked in confusion and thought to myself "really....?" And then when i get closer i look to my right and see "The Church Of Scientology". At first it looks like this little building up front that slightly resembles a church, but then i notice that this giant industrial looking complex behind it is attached to it. Very scary looking stuff. Anyways no time to really stop and look though because i was running late for my train. I get to the metro grab my ticket and make it down the escalator just in time to watch my train pull off. So i sit patiently and wait for the next one to come. I get on and wait some more till i get to universal city. I get off and rush up three escalators into the bright sun that was now out. Originally i had 11 minutes between when my train i was supposed to be there and when my bus left and the train i got on came 10 minutes later so i had a minute to try and catch my bus and again i get up and am blinded by the sun but then in the distance see the bus i'm supposed to be on riding off.... So again i sit patiently and wait for another bus. Finally one gets there about 30 minutes later. So i finally get back to meet my sister with blisters on both my feet. We then meet up with josh her fiancee and i go with him to their bible group study which tonight is special, all of the women go out to eat while the men sit and play Wii with the kids and eat pizza. It was a fun time. And now i'm here..... time to pack.
I'll try and get some pictures of the record haul from yesterday.
And when i get back i'll try and get some of the pictures i took scanned.

day.... 4 is it?

well after record shopping yesterday not much happened. Basically sat around the house and had burgers.

Today's plan is to go to body worlds. I haven't gone yet so it might be interesting. There was a possibility of going to a show tonight but that doesn't seem too likely since i have no real way of getting there. I had been offered a ride from one of the bands playing but the show is on the other side of LA towards Anaheim and to come pick me up would be rediculous and too much to ask. While the metro is pretty efficient if you're allready in LA going from Simi Valley isn't. It would take me about 3 hours to get into LA, 4 to get into Hollywood. And since we aren't going to body worlds until 2 then that probably isn't going to work. So odds are i'm going to be here again for another night. I really do need to figure out the metro system so i can go exploring on my own for a while. Hollywood was pretty awesome yesterday. I would like to actually get a chance to walk around and see some stuff and take some pictures. Anyways for now i'm going to just hang out at my sister's for a while till we all go to lunch.

Record Shopping Take 1

Also got some 7"s

again nothing spectacular (actualy stoked on both the bootleg lps) but still awesome records.

More record shopping to commence within the next couple of days

California days 1 and 2

So It's technically day three here but i'll update everyone on days one and 2 since i have a little time.

So tuesday night i went to my uncle's house to sleep since he was driving me to the airport. I didn't stay up too long since i had to be up at 4:30 the next morning.

So after a weird and awkward sleep I was up and getting ready to leave. They offered me something to eat. They had stuff to make sandwiches. I look in the drawer where the supposed sandwich meat is and see stacks of these individual packets of meat. The kind you buy for like 99 cents at the grocer. I had two choices, Ham and Beef. The ham was scary looking but sounded better than this supposed mystery beef. So i took half a packet and some cheese and some white bread that could probably be used for glue and made a sandwich and then i was off. I get to the airport and am early enough where security is pretty quick. I get through and find where my terminal is and then set off to find a soda due to it being 5 in the morning and me requiring caffeine. I find a news store that has dr pepper and buy one for $2 and go back to sit down. I sit down and start digging in my bag for my ipod only to not find it. What a very horrible start for a trip. So i begin to read hoping to get caught up in my book and drown out the noise of the airport which is getting progressively busier. I watch the news to see that Clinton won Indiana but only by 2 percent. Finally it was 7:10 and time to board the plane. Southwest has a new system where they have boarding groups and you get to pick your own seat. I grab a window seat in about the middle of the plane (right in front of the emergency exit on the wing). The plane was far from full but i shared my row with a girl who had braces and a hurt foot resulting in one of those giant black boots. But she still had it better than me because she had an ipod. Not having music to occupy myself i took my jacket and used it as a pillow and passed out. Finally i wake up and look around to see everyone else with drinks, meaning i missed the complimentary soda they hand out. Luckily i still had my dr pepper from the airport. I don't drink all of it because i save it for the chicago airport. I spend the rest of the flight trying to read and looking out of the window. We finally get into a rainy dark chicago.
We arrive at Chicago Midway. It was a lot nicer than i remember O'Hare being. I am starving so i start my search for some food. It was about 8am chicago time. I had been up for about 5 hours now and breakfast didn't sound appetizing. So i finally found the one place not serving breakfast which was a pizza place. I pay $6 for a burnt slice and go back to where my terminal is and where they have stools and a table to sit at. I pull out my laptop and proceed to check for internet. You have to pay for it. This was the problem at RDU too. So i have an hour and a half and decide to start watching The Great Dictator with charlie chaplin while waiting. Then i remember that i can use my laptop on the plane to watch a movie to pass the time. Sadly the battery is almost dead and i only have the time at the airport to charge it. Finally around 9:45 i board my plane to LAX with an ETA of 12:20 Western time. I get on the plane and try and finish up my movie but it doesn't last too long. I get through a majority of it though before my computer dies. I then finished my book i was reading. And then i hear the announcement of still having about 3 hours left on the flight. I pull out another book but all i have left is books involving music, which reading about music when you can't listen to it is like reading about food when you can't eat anything. So i sit there uncomfortably in my seat, try and go to sleep but it never really works. Luckily they provided me with plenty of free sodas and snacks to keep me slightly occupied. Finally after an excruciating flight i end up in LA. I get my luggage with no problem and then am off with my sister to Simi Valley. Having eaten nothing too great yet she decided to take me for my first trip to an In and Out burger. It was awesome. I really liked it. The rest of the day involved running to a couple of stores to get stuff to make wedding invitations and dinner. Her fiance Josh came over with his brother and we ate and made wedding invites till late. I had to retire earlier than everyone else due to not being used to the time change yet.

The next morning i was up at around 6 or 7 again due to not being used to the time change. I tried going back to sleep but mostly just laid there. Finally around 9 my sister was up and made breakfast. We worked on getting ready to go out and then proceeded to do more errands and then some exploring. We ended up at Santa Monica and found a neat art store there. We then went to Baja Fresh for street tacos. They were good but mine had a lot of onions. Then we made the big stop of the day at the Ghetty Center. It was awesome. Lots of really great art. They then had a special exhibit on California Video. Mostly weird movies that were supposed to be "art". Then I saw this one screen that had tons of fliers behind it and it was an exhibit on Target Video. For those who don't know what it is go look up target video on youtube. So i sat there and watched sets by the circle jerks, dead kennedys, the screamers, the weirdos, and a million other good bands. I got yelled at for trying to take pictures of the flyers with my phone. Then it was back here for chili night and more invitation making.

Today's ultimate goal is record shopping. I found four stores that seem like they might be good stops. I'm sure the people there can lead me to other spots too.
